How Our Fees Work
Financial Planning
For clients who want comprehensive financial planning only, we charge a one-time project fee based on an agreed upon scope of work and the number of hours we estimate to complete the project.
A typical comprehensive financial plan will range in cost from $5,000 to $10,000.
This fee does not include any ongoing implementation post-engagement, nor does it include detailed investment portfolio recommendations for clients who would otherwise qualify for our wealth management services.
Wealth Management
We base the annual fees for our wealth management services (which include all desired financial planning) on the value of assets we manage for each client.
Typically, this only includes assets we manage on a discretionary basis at our custodial firms. It does not include investments made directly by our clients that we are not overseeing (e.g. individual stocks selected by the client, direct private equity investments).
We rarely charge for the advice we provide on our client’s employer-sponsored retirement plans and their children’s college savings plans, unless we are directly managing them.
Additionally, we like to support our clients in their charitable efforts and we do not charge for managing any assets placed into a Donor-Advised Fund (some exceptions may apply for very large accounts with customized investment strategies).
Our current fee structure is as follows:
1.0% for the first $2,500,000 under management
0.9% for the next $2,500,000
0.7% for the next $5,000,000
0.5% for amounts over $10,000,000
We may, at our discretion, discount this fee structure for clients with significant assets.
Please note that there is no separate initial or ongoing financial planning fee.
Financial Planning for Young Professionals
We recognize that the planning needs of young professionals are often less complex than those who have been saving for many years or who are nearing retirement.
As a result, we offer a service tailored to the most common needs of younger clients that puts them on the path to financial success.
A typical financial plan for young professionals will range in cost from $3,000 to $5,000.
Divorce Financial Analysis
For these services, we charge a project fee based upon an agreed scope of work and an estimated number of hours to complete the project.
A typical settlement analysis, coupled with a post-divorce comprehensive financial plan, costs between $3,500 and $6,000.
We will also occasionally work on an hourly basis when the scope of work cannot be ascertained (e.g. litigation cases.) Our current hourly rate is $325.
